 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Dr. Ron Clinton is retiring as president of
 Northeast Texas Community College on June 30, 2025, drawing to a
 close an exemplary tenure with the institution that has spanned
 nearly four decades; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of his career at NTCC, Dr. Clinton
 has held numerous roles; he initially served as the director of the
 music department, a position that stemmed from his earlier work as a
 concert pianist; he has also taught humanities and philosophy, and
 he held the office of executive vice president for instruction;
 since becoming president in 2017, he has expanded access to higher
 education by creating new academic and workforce programs,
 implementing a $20 million campus renovation, and fostering a
 culture that empowers students to succeed; and
 WHEREAS, A leader in his profession, Dr. Clinton has served
 on numerous state education committees and boards as well as
 college accreditation teams throughout the southeastern United
 States; his many accolades include the 2014 Carl M. "Cheesie"
 Nelson Award from the Texas Association of Community Colleges, a
 2024 Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction from the Phi Theta Kappa
 Honor Society, and the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award from the
 Mount Pleasant-Titus County Chamber of Commerce; and
 WHEREAS, Engaged in his community, Dr. Clinton is an active
 member of the Rotary Club, and he has drawn on his musical talents
 to serve as the founding director of the NTCC Community Chorus and
 as music director of First Presbyterian Church; moreover, he
 performs at the Whatley Center for Performing Arts each year; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Clinton holds a bachelor's degree from Stephen
 F. Austin State University, and he earned his master's degree and
 doctorate from The University of Texas at Austin; in all his
 endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Susan, their
 four children, Evan, Amy, Costa, and Katie, and two grandchildren,
 Dean and Helena; retirement will afford him the opportunity to
 travel and spend more time with his family; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Ron Clinton's dedication and leadership have
 greatly benefited Northeast Texas Community College, and he may
 indeed take pride in his outstanding record of service as he embarks
 on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
 hereby congratulate Dr. Ron Clinton on his retirement as president
 of Northeast Texas Community College and extend to him sincere best
 wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Dr. Clinton as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas Senate.
