To amend title 38, United States Code, to improve the
methods by which the Secretary of Veterans Affairs con-
ducts oversight of certain educational institutions, and
for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Veterans Education 4
Oversight Expansion Act’’. 5

SEC. 2. EXPANSION OF DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AF-1
FAIRS OVERSIGHT OF CERTAIN EDU-2
CATIONAL INSTITUTIONS. 3
(a) A
DDITIONALREQUIREMENT FOR APPROVAL.— 4
Section 3675(b) of title 38, United States Code, is amend-5
ed by adding at the end the following new paragraph: 6
‘‘(5) The educational institution agrees to, not 7
later than 30 days after any date on which such 8
educational institution becomes subject to an action 9
or event described in section 3673(e)(3) of this title, 10
submit to the State approving agency, or the Sec-11
retary when acting in the role of a State approving 12
agency, a notification of such action or event in such 13
form and containing such information as the Sec-14
retary determines appropriate.’’. 15

ONACCREDITEDCOURSES.— 17
(1) I
N GENERAL.—Section 3676(c) of such title 18
is amended— 19
(A) by redesignating paragraphs (14) 20
through (16) as paragraphs (15) through (17), 21
respectively; and 22
(B) by inserting after paragraph (13) the 23
following new paragraph: 24
‘‘(14) The institution agrees to, not later than 25
30 days after any date on which such institution be-26

comes subject to an action or event described in sec-1
tion 3673(e)(3) of this title, submit to the State ap-2
proving agency, or the Secretary when acting in the 3
role of a State approving agency, a notification of 4
such action or event in such form and containing 5
such information as the Secretary determines appro-6
priate.’’. 7

ONFORMING AMENDMENTS .—Such title is 8
further amended— 9
(A) in section 3672(b)(2)(C), by striking 10
‘‘paragraph (14) or (15)’’ and inserting ‘‘para-11
graph (15) or (16)’’; 12
(B) in section 3675(b)(3), by striking 13
‘‘(14), (15), and (16)’’ and inserting ‘‘(15), 14
(16), and (17)’’; 15
(C) in section 3679(d), by striking ‘‘de-16
scribed in paragraph (14) or (15)’’ and insert-17
ing ‘‘described in paragraph (15) or (16)’’; and 18
(D) in section 3680A(a)(4)(C)(iii), by 19
striking ‘‘section 3676(c)(14) and (15)’’ and in-20
serting ‘‘section 3676(c)(15) and (16)’’. 21
(c) A
DDITIONALGROUNDS FORSUSPENSION OFAP-22
PROVAL.—Section 3679(f)(1) of such title is amended by 23
adding at the end the following new subparagraph: 24

‘‘(J) Comply with the notification requirements 1
under sections 3675(b)(5) and 3676(c)(14) of this 2
title, when applicable.’’. 3
(d) R
ESTORATION OF CERTAINEDUCATIONALAS-4
SISTANCE.—Section 3699(b)(1)(B) of such title is amend-5
ed— 6
(1) in clause (i), by striking ‘‘; or’’ and insert-7
ing a semicolon; and 8
(2) by adding at the end the following new 9
clause: 10
‘‘(iii) any action of the Secretary af-11
fecting such approval or disapproval the 12
Secretary determines appropriate; or’’. 13

EADLINE FOR RISK-BASEDSURVEYSDATA-14
BASE.—The Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall establish 15
the database required under section 3673A(c) of title 38, 16
United States Code, by not later than 180 days after the 17
date of the enactment of this Act. 18
