To amend title 10, United States Code, to authorize the
Secretary of the Air Force to designate certain separated
members of the Air Force as honorary separated mem-
bers of the Space Force.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Space Force Legacy 4
Guardian Recognition Act’’. 5

SEC. 2. AUTHORITY TO DESIGNATE CERTAIN SEPARATED 1
MEMBERS OF THE AIR FORCE AS HONORARY 2
SEPARATED MEMBERS OF THE SPACE 3
FORCE. 4
Chapter 933 of title 10, United States Code, is 5
amended by adding at the end the following new section: 6
‘‘§ 9254. Authority to designate certain separated 7
members of the Air Force as honorary 8
separated members of the Space Force 9
‘‘(a) A
UTHORITY.—The Secretary of the Air Force 10
may prescribe regulations that authorize an eligible indi-11
vidual to be designated as an honorary separated member 12
of the Space Force. An eligible individual so designated 13
may be referred to as a ‘Legacy Guardian’. 14
‘‘(b) E
LEMENTS.—Regulations prescribed under this 15
section may include the following elements: 16
‘‘(1) Eligibility criteria, including applicable 17
dates of service and constructive service credit, for 18
designation under this section. 19
‘‘(2) An application process through which an 20
eligible individual, or a survivor of a deceased eligi-21
ble individual, may apply for such designation of 22
such eligible individual. 23
‘‘(3) A certificate, approved device, or other in-24
signia of such designation. 25

‘‘(c) RULE OFCONSTRUCTION.—Designation of an 1
eligible individual under this section shall not be construed 2
to entitle such eligible individual to any benefit in addition 3
to those established by this section or pursuant to regula-4
tions prescribed under this section. 5
‘‘(d) E
LIGIBLEINDIVIDUALDEFINED.—In this sec-6
tion, the term ‘eligible individual’ means an individual— 7
‘‘(1) whom the Secretary of the Air Force de-8
termines served in support of space operations as a 9
member of the Air Force; and 10
‘‘(2) who separates (or previously separated) 11
from the armed forces as a member of the Air 12
Force.’’. 13
