Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Military Service Pro-4 motion Act of 2023’’. 5 SEC. 2. INCREASED ACCESS TO POTENTIAL RECRUITS AT 1 INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION. 2 Section 983(b) of title 10, United States Code, is 3 amended— 4 (1) in paragraph (1), by striking ‘‘; or’’ and in-5 serting a semicolon; 6 (2) in paragraph (2)— 7 (A) by striking ‘‘to the following informa-8 tion pertaining’’ and inserting ‘‘, with respect’’; 9 (B) by striking ‘‘institution):’’ and insert-10 ing ‘‘institution)—’’ 11 (C) in subparagraph (A)— 12 (i) by striking ‘‘Names’’ and inserting 13 ‘‘names’’; and 14 (ii) by striking ‘‘telephone listings.’’ 15 and inserting ‘‘telephone listings, which in-16 formation shall be made available not later 17 than the 60th day following the date of a 18 request; and’’; and 19 (D) in subparagraph (B)— 20 (i) by striking ‘‘Date’’ and inserting 21 ‘‘date’’; and 22 (ii) by striking the period at the end 23 and inserting ‘‘; or’’; and 24 (3) by adding at the end the following new 25 paragraph: 26 VerDate Sep 11 2014 01:09 Jun 23, 2023 Jkt 039200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\S1841.IS S1841 pbinns on DSKJLVW7X2PROD with $$_JOB 4 •S 1841 IS ‘‘(3) access by military recruiters for purposes 1 of military recruiting to lists of students (who are 17 2 years of age or older) not returning to the institu-3 tion after having been enrolled during the previous 4 semester, together with student recruiting informa-5 tion and the reason why the student did not return, 6 if collected by the institution.’’. 7 SEC. 4.
