To direct the Bureau of Labor Statistics to prepare and
publish a Consumer Price Index for Rural Consumers,
and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Combating Rural In-4
flation Act’’. 5
SEC. 2. CONSUMER PRICE INDEX FOR RURAL CONSUMERS. 6
The Bureau of Labor Statistics of the Department 7
of Labor shall prepare and publish an index for each cal-8
endar month beginning with January 2026 to be known 9
as the ‘‘Consumer Price Index for Rural Consumers’’ that 10
