A BILL 
To direct the Architect of the Capitol to design and install 
in the United States Capitol an exhibit that depicts 
the attack on the Capitol that occurred on January 6, 
2021, and for other purposes. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Capitol Remembrance 4
Act’’. 5

SEC. 2. EXHIBIT DEPICTING THE ATTACK ON THE CAPITOL. 1
(a) I
NGENERAL.—Not later than 2 years after the 2
date of enactment of this Act, the Architect of the Capitol, 3
in consultation with the Joint Committee on the Library, 4
shall carry out a project to design and install in a promi-5
nent location in the United States Capitol a permanent 6
exhibit that depicts the attack on the Capitol that occurred 7
on January 6, 2021. 8
(b) E
XHIBITREQUIREMENTS.— 9
(1) I
NCLUSION OF CAPITOL PROPERTY .—The 10
Architect shall, to the extent practicable, preserve 11
property from the United States Capitol or the 12
United States Capitol Grounds (as described in sec-13
tion 5102 of title 40, United States Code) that was 14
damaged during the attack and include such prop-15
erty in the exhibit described in subsection (a) as the 16
Architect determines appropriate. 17
(2) P
HOTOGRAPHIC RECORDS .—The Architect 18
shall include existing photographic records relating 19
to the attack on the Capitol in the exhibit described 20
in subsection (a). 21
(3) P
LAQUE.—The Architect shall include in 22
the exhibit described in subsection (a) a plaque for 23
the purpose of honoring— 24
(A) the United States Capitol Police and 25
other law enforcement agencies that partici-26

pated in protecting the United States Capitol 1
on January 6, 2021; 2
(B) the sacrifice of heroes, including 3
United States Capitol Police Officers Brian 4
Sicknick and Howard Liebengood, Metropolitan 5
Police Department Officers Jeffrey Smith, Gun-6
ther Hashida, and Kyle DeFreytag, and those 7
who sustained injuries as a result of protecting 8
the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021; 9
and 10
(C) the Capitol staff that helped restore 11
the Capitol Complex after the attack. 12
(4) A
RTWORK.—The Architect may include art-13
work created to depict the attack on the Capitol in 14
the exhibit described in subsection (a). 15
(c) A
UTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS.—There 16
are authorized to be appropriated such sums as are nec-17
essary to carry out this Act. Amounts appropriated pursu-18
ant to this subsection shall remain available until ex-19
pended. 20
