SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Eliminating Fraud and 4
Improper Payments in TANF Act’’. 5

SEC. 2. STRENGTHENING PROGRAM INTEGRITY THROUGH 1
IMPROPER PAYMENTS REVIEW. 2
(a) I
NGENERAL.—Section 404 of the Social Security 3
Act (42 U.S.C. 604) is amended by adding at the end the 4
following: 5
‘‘(l) A
PPLICABILITY OFPAYMENTINTEGRITYLAW.— 6
The Payment Integrity Information Act of 2019 shall 7
apply to a State in respect of the State program funded 8
under this part in the same manner in which such Act 9
applies to a Federal agency.’’. 10
(b) E
FFECTIVEDATE.—The amendment made by 11
subsection (a) shall take effect on October 1, 2026. 12
(c) R
EPORT TOCONGRESS.—Within 1 year after the 13
date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Health 14
and Human Services shall submit to the Congress a writ-15
ten report that contains a plan to reduce or eliminate im-16
proper payments made by States under part A of title IV 17
of the Social Security Act within 10 years. 18
