PUBLICATION BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND 1 SECURITY OF THE NUMBER OF SPECIAL IN-2 TEREST ALIENS ENCOUNTERED ATTEMPTING 3 TO UNLAWFULLY ENTER THE UNITED 4 STATES. 5 (a) I NGENERAL.—Not later than the seventh day of 6 each month, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall 7 publish on a publicly available webpage of the Department 8 of Homeland Security and submit to the Committee on 9 Homeland Security of the House of Representatives and 10 the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental 11 Affairs of the Senate a report on the total number, and 12 an identification of the nationalities or countries of last 13 habitual residence, of special interest aliens encountered 14 by the Department attempting to unlawfully enter the 15 United States during the immediately preceding month. 16 Each such report shall also include the following: 17 (1) Such number disaggregated by geographic 18 regions of such encounters. 19 (2) Specifications relating to whether such en-20 counters were made at land, air, or sea ports of 21 entry, between ports of entry, or in the interior of 22 the United States. 23 (3) Identification of any such nationalities or 24 countries of last habitual residence that are covered 25 nations. 26 VerDate Sep 11 2014 00:15 Feb 01, 2025 Jkt 059200 PO 00000 Frm 00002 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6201 E:\BILLS\H275.IH H275 kjohnson on DSK7ZCZBW3PROD with $$_JOB 3 •HR 275 IH (b) DEFINITIONS.—In this section: 1 (1) A LIEN.—The term ‘‘alien’’ has the meaning 2 given such term in section 101 of the Immigration 3 and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101). 4 (2) C OVERED NATION.—The term ‘‘covered na-5 tion’’ has the meaning given such term in section 6 4872(d)(2) of title 10, United States Code. 7 (3) S PECIAL INTEREST ALIEN.—The term ‘‘spe-8 cial interest alien’’ means an alien who, based on an 9 analysis of travel patterns, potentially poses a na-10 tional security risk to the United States or its inter-11 ests. 12 Æ VerDate Sep 11 2014 00:15 Feb 01, 2025 Jkt 059200 PO 00000 Frm 00003 Fmt 6652 Sfmt 6301 E:\BILLS\H275.IH H275 kjohnson on DSK7ZCZBW3PROD with $$_JOB
