To rename the Gulf of Mexico as the ‘‘Gulf of America’’.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Gulf of America Act 4
of 2025’’. 5
SEC. 2. RENAMING OF GULF OF MEXICO AS ‘‘GULF OF 6
AMERICA’’. 7
(a) R
ENAMING.—The Gulf of Mexico shall be known 8
as the ‘‘Gulf of America’’. 9

(b) REFERENCES.—Any reference in a law, map, reg-1
ulation, document, paper, or other record of the United 2
States to the Gulf of Mexico shall be deemed to be a ref-3
erence to the ‘‘Gulf of America’’. 4

MPLEMENTATION.— 5
(1) I
N GENERAL.—The Secretary of the Inte-6
rior, acting through the Chairman of the Board on 7
Geographic Names, shall oversee the implementation 8
of the renaming described in subsection (a) with re-9
spect to each Federal document and map. 10
(2) R
EQUIREMENT.—Not later than 180 days 11
after the date of the enactment of this section, the 12
head of each Federal agency shall update each docu-13
ment and map of the Federal agency in accordance 14
with the renaming described in subsection (a). 15
