To amend title 38, United States Code, to make certain
spouses eligible for services under the disabled veterans’
outreach program, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Gold Star and Sur-4
viving Spouse Career Services Act’’. 5

SEC. 2. ELIGIBILITY OF SPOUSES FOR SERVICES UNDER 1
THE DISABLED VETERANS’ OUTREACH PRO-2
GRAM. 3
Section 4103A of title 38, United States Code, is 4
amended— 5
(1) in subsection (a)— 6
(A) in paragraph (1)— 7
(i) in the matter preceding subpara-8
graph (A), by inserting ‘‘and eligible per-9
sons’’ after ‘‘eligible veterans’’; and 10
(ii) in subparagraph (C), by inserting 11
‘‘, and eligible persons,’’ after ‘‘Other eligi-12
ble veterans’’; 13
(B) in paragraph (2), by inserting ‘‘and el-14
igible persons’’ after ‘‘veterans’’ each place it 15
appears; and 16
(C) in paragraph (3)— 17
(i) by inserting ‘‘or eligible person’’ 18
after ‘‘veteran’’ each place it appears; and 19
(ii) by inserting ‘‘or eligible person’s’’ 20
after ‘‘veteran’s’’; 21
(2) in subsection (d)(1)— 22
(A) by inserting ‘‘and eligible persons’’ 23
after ‘‘eligible veterans’’ each place it appears; 24
and 25
(B) by striking ‘‘non-veteran-related’’; and 26

(3) by adding at the end the following new sub-1
section: 2
‘‘(e) E
LIGIBLEPERSONDEFINED.—In this section, 3
the term ‘eligible person’ means— 4
‘‘(1) any spouse described in section 4101(5) of 5
this title; or 6
‘‘(2) the spouse of any person who died while 7
a member of the Armed Forces.’’. 8
