A BILL
To ensure an equitable geographic distribution of projects
selected through the Port Infrastructure Development
Program.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Securing Smart Invest-4
ments in our Ports Act’’. 5
SEC. 2. PORT INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. 6
(a) P
ORT ANDINTERMODAL IMPROVEMENT PRO-7
GRAM.—Section 54301(a)(6)(B) of title 46, United States 8
Code, is amended— 9

(1) in clause (ii), by striking ‘‘and’’ after the 1
semicolon; 2
(2) in clause (iii), by striking the period and in-3
serting ‘‘; and’’; and 4
(3) by adding at the end the following: 5
‘‘(iv) ensuring equitable geographic 6
distribution among regions of the United 7
States with regard to the projects se-8
lected.’’. 9

OASTALPORTS ANDTERMINALS.—Section 54301(b)(4) 11
of title 46, United States Code, is amended— 12
(1) in subparagraph (B), by striking ‘‘; and’’; 13
(2) in subparagraph (C), by striking the period 14
at the end and inserting ‘‘; and’’; and 15
(3) by adding at the end the following: 16
‘‘(D) ensure equitable geographic distribu-17
tion among regions of the United States with 18
regard to the projects selected.’’. 19
