A BILL
To prohibit the use of Federal funds to close or realign
the Marine Corps Recruit Depot located at Parris Island,
South Carolina.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-1
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 2
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 3
This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Parris Island Protec-4
tion Act’’. 5
SEC. 2. FINDINGS. 6
Congress finds the following: 7
(1) The Marine Corps Recruit Depot located at 8
Parris Island, South Carolina (in this section re-9

States as a home to the Marine Corps since 1891. 2
(2) Parris Island stands as a site of cultural 3
and historical significance to the Marine Corps and 4
the fighting spirit of the United States. 5
(3) Parris Island offers various and challenging 6
conditions that have prepared members of the Ma-7
rine Corps for every major conflict since World War 8
I. 9
(4) Parris Island has cultivated a legacy of ex-10
cellence and faithful service to the United States. 11
(5) Parris Island is and shall remain the phys-12
ical home of the Eastern Recruiting Region of the 13
Marine Corps. 14
(6) Continued investments are needed to ensure 15
that Parris Island continues to serve the United 16
States for years to come. 17
SEC. 3. PROHIBITION OF CLOSING OR REALIGNMENT OF 18
MARINE CORPS RECRUIT DEPOT LOCATED 19
AT PARRIS ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA. 20
No Federal funds may be used to close or realign Ma-21
rine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, 22
or to conduct any planning or other activity related to 23
such closure or realignment. 24
