HONORING JAMES EARL CARTER, JR. 3 (a) L YING INSTATE INROTUNDA.—In recognition 4 of the long and distinguished service rendered to the Na-5 tion and to the world by the late James Earl Carter, Jr., 6 the 39th President of the United States, his remains shall 7 be permitted to lie in state in the rotunda of the Capitol 8 from January 7, 2025 until January 9, 2025. The Archi-9 tect of the Capitol, under the direction of the Majority 10 Leader of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of 11 Representatives, shall take all necessary steps for the ac-12 complishment of that purpose. 13 (b) U SE OFCATAFALQUE.—The Architect of the 14 Capitol is authorized and directed to transfer the cata-15 falque which is situated in the Exhibition Hall of the Cap-16 itol Visitor Center to the rotunda of the Capitol so that 17 such catafalque may be used in connection with services 18 2 †SCON 3 ES to be conducted there for the late James Earl Carter, Jr., 1 39th President of the United States. 2 Passed the Senate January 3, 2025.
