Section 9-8-906 is enacted to read: *HB0482* H.B. 482 02-15-23 1:47 PM - 2 - 28 9-8-906. Utah Archaeological and Historic Sites Assistance Fund. 29 (1) As used in this section: 30 (a) "Fund" means the Utah Archaeological and Historic Sites Assistance Fund, created 31in Subsection (2)(a). 32 (b) "Office" means the State Historic Preservation Office. 33 (2) (a) There is created an expendable special revenue fund known as the Utah 34Archaeological and Historic Sites Assistance Fund. 35 (b) The fund shall assist private landowners with identifying and protecting 36archaeological resources on the private landowners' land. 37 (c) The cost of administering the fund shall be paid from money in the fund. 38 (3) The office shall: 39 (a) administer the money contained in the fund; and 40 (b) select qualified recipients in accordance with Subsection (4). 41 (4) The office may distribute the funds to a private landowner: 42 (a) that applies to the office, in a manner prescribed by the office, to receive all or part 43of the money contained in the fund; and 44 (b) for identifying and protecting archaeological resources on the landowner's property, 45if the private landowner contributes an amount of money equal to or greater than the amount of 46money the landowner receives from the fund. 47 Section 2. Appropriation. 48 The following sums of money are appropriated for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 492023, and ending June 30, 2024. These are additions to amounts previously appropriated for 50fiscal year 2023. The Legislature has reviewed the following expendable funds. The Legislature 51authorizes the State Division of Finance to transfer amounts between funds and accounts as 52indicated.
