General Description:

This bill addresses veterinarian-client-patient relationship and bees.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:

Section 1.  Section 58-28-604 is amended to read:
20 
58-28-604 . Veterinarian-client-patient relationship.

(1) [A]
22 
(a) Except as provided in Subsection (1)(b), a licensee under this chapter may only
23 
practice under a veterinarian-client-patient relationship as defined in Section
24 
58-28-102.
25 
(b) Notwithstanding Section 58-28-102, when a veterinarian employed by the
26 
Department of Agriculture and Food issues a veterinary feed directive to a beekeeper
27 
who is registered in accordance with Section 4-11-104, a veterinarian-client-patient
28 
relationship is established for the veterinarian employed by the Department of
29 
Agriculture and Food if:

(i) the relevant apiary is inspected by:
31 
(A) a county bee inspector appointed under Section 4-11-105; or
32 
(B) an inspector for the Department of Agriculture and Food; and
33 
(ii) in conducting the inspection under Subsection (1)(b)(i), the inspector works in
34 
conjunction with the veterinarian employed by the Department of Agriculture and
35 
Food.

(2) A veterinarian-client-patient relationship may not be established solely by telephone or
37 
other electronic means.

Section 2.  Effective date.
39 
This bill takes effect on May 7, 2025.
