Sandall 2 3 LONG TITLE 4 General Description: 5 This bill addresses veterinarian-client-patient relationship and bees. 6 Highlighted Provisions: 7 This bill: 8 ▸ provides for the veterinarian-client-patient relationship with regard to bees; and 9 ▸ makes technical changes. 10 Money Appropriated in this Bill: 11 None 12 Other Special Clauses: 13 None 14 Utah Code Sections Affected: 15 AMENDS: 16 58-28-604, as enacted by Laws of Utah 2006, Chapter 109 17 18 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah: 19 Section 1. Section 58-28-604 is amended to read: 20 58-28-604 . Veterinarian-client-patient relationship. 21 (1) [A] 22 (a) Except as provided in Subsection (1)(b), a licensee under this chapter may only 23 practice under a veterinarian-client-patient relationship as defined in Section 24 58-28-102. 25 (b) Notwithstanding Section 58-28-102, when a veterinarian employed by the 26 Department of Agriculture and Food issues a veterinary feed directive to a beekeeper 27 who is registered in accordance with Section 4-11-104, a veterinarian-client-patient 28 relationship is established for the veterinarian employed by the Department of H.B. 194 Enrolled Copy 29 Agriculture and Food if: 30 (i) the relevant apiary is inspected by: 31 (A) a county bee inspector appointed under Section 4-11-105; or 32 (B) an inspector for the Department of Agriculture and Food; and 33 (ii) in conducting the inspection under Subsection (1)(b)(i), the inspector works in 34 conjunction with the veterinarian employed by the Department of Agriculture and 35 Food. 36 (2) A veterinarian-client-patient relationship may not be established solely by telephone or 37 other electronic means. 38 Section 2. Effective date. 39 This bill takes effect on May 7, 2025. - 2 -
