Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:

WHEREAS, the Utah Sentencing Commission establishes and maintains the adult
21
sentencing and supervision length guidelines that provide recommendations for sentencing and
22
supervision for all criminal offenses and the juvenile disposition guidelines that provide
23
recommendations and clarifications for practices and procedures for juvenile dispositions;
24
WHEREAS, Utah Code Section 63M-7-406 requires the Utah Commission on Criminal
25
and Juvenile Justice to annually submit the adult sentencing and supervision length guidelines
26
and the juvenile disposition guidelines to the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim
27
Committee and the Judiciary Interim Committee for review;
28
WHEREAS, Utah Code Section 63M-7-406 requires the Legislature to annually
29
authorize the adult sentencing and supervision length guidelines and the juvenile disposition
30
guidelines submitted to the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee and the S.C.R. 1 12-20 15:46

Judiciary Interim Committee; and
32
WHEREAS, the Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice submitted the adult
33
sentencing and supervision length guidelines and the juvenile disposition guidelines on
34
November 14, 2024, to the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee and the
35
Judiciary Interim Committee for approval for the 2025 General Session:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Legislature, and the Governor
37
concurring therein, authorize the adult sentencing and supervision length guidelines and
38
juvenile disposition guidelines submitted to the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim
39
Committee and the Judiciary Interim Committee.
