General Description:

This resolution authorizes the adult sentencing and supervision length guidelines and the

juvenile disposition guidelines.

Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
17 
       WHEREAS, the Utah Sentencing Commission establishes and maintains the adult
18 
sentencing and supervision length guidelines that provide recommendations for sentencing and
19 
supervision for all criminal offenses and the juvenile disposition guidelines that provide
20 
recommendations and clarifications for practices and procedures for juvenile dispositions;
21 
       WHEREAS, Utah Code Section 63M-7-406 requires the Utah Commission on Criminal
22 
and Juvenile Justice to annually submit the adult sentencing and supervision length guidelines
23 
and the juvenile disposition guidelines to the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim
24 
Committee and the Judiciary Interim Committee for review;
25 
       WHEREAS, Utah Code Section 63M-7-406 requires the Legislature to annually authorize
26 
the adult sentencing and supervision length guidelines and the juvenile disposition guidelines S.C.R. 1	Enrolled Copy
27 
submitted to the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee and the Judiciary
28 
Interim Committee; and
29 
       WHEREAS, the Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice submitted the adult
30 
sentencing and supervision length guidelines and the juvenile disposition guidelines on
31 
November 14, 2024, to the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim Committee and the
32 
Judiciary Interim Committee for approval for the 2025 General Session:

       NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature, and the Governor
34 
concurring therein, authorize the adult sentencing and supervision length guidelines and
35 
juvenile disposition guidelines submitted to the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Interim
36 
Committee and the Judiciary Interim Committee.
