Subject: Taxation and finance; marriage license fee 5
Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to repeal the 6
sunset relating to a 2023 increase in marriage license fees. 2023 Acts and 7
Resolves No. 19 increased the fee for a marriage license from $60.00 to 8
$80.00, of which the sum retained by the town clerk was increased from 9
$10.00 to $15.00, and the amount of the fee directed to the Domestic and 10
Sexual Violence Special Fund created by 13 V.S.A. § 5360 was increased from 11
$35.00 to $50.00. 12

It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont: 14
Sec. 1. 2023 Acts and Resolves No. 19, Sec. 5 is amended to read: 15
