Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to approve the 7
expansion of the boundaries of the Village of Swanton to include a contiguous 8
parcel located at 124 First Street in the Town of Swanton. 9
An act relating to approval of the annexation of property by the Village of 10
Swanton 11
It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont: 12
Sec. 1. APPROVAL OF ANNEXATION OF PROPERTY BY THE 13
VILLAGE OF SWANTON 14
(a) The General Assembly approves the annexation of property by the 15
Village of Swanton within the Town of Swanton, as set forth in this act. The 16
Board of Trustees of the Village approved the annexation of the property on 17
September 11, 2023. 18
(b) On April 7, 2023, the Village of Swanton became the owner of the 19
property located at 124 First Street in the Town of Swanton. The property is 20 BILL AS INTRODUCED H.364

adjacent to the parcel of property used by the Village for its Village offices and 1
is contiguous with the boundaries of the Village. 2
(c) Pursuant to 24 App. V.S.A. chapter 279 (Village of Swanton), § 2(e), 3
the boundaries of the Village may be altered at the discretion of the Board of 4
Trustees and with the concurrence of the General Assembly. 5
(d) The General Assembly hereby approves the alteration of the Village 6
boundaries and the Village’s annexation of the property located at 124 First 7
Street. 8
Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE 9
This act shall take effect on passage. 10
