Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to require the 9
Division of Emergency Management to develop a statewide flood alert system 10
for small municipalities, integrating river height monitoring devices, localized 11
emergency warnings, and real-time weather updates through multiple 12
communication channels. This bill also proposes to increase staffing and 13
resources within the Department of Public Safety and the Division of 14
Emergency Management to assist municipalities with flood recovery efforts, 15
including Federal Emergency Management Agency grant acquisition, 16
engineering analysis, and the implementation of remediation projects. 17
