Whereas,thesagaofthe2024UniversityofVermont(UVM)men’ssoccersquad,affectionatelyknownas
the“CardiacCats”inhonoroftheirlategame-winninggoals,exceedstheallureofaGrimmBrothers’fairy
tale, and
Whereas,althoughtheywerethe2024AmericaEastmen’ssoccerchampions,unseededUVMastoundedthe
punditsastheCatamountsreachedthecovetedsemifinalround,winningthispenultimatesoccerchallenge
againstthethird-seededUniversityofDenverinathrilling4–3overtimetriumph, and
Whereas,inthechampionshipgame,playedattheWakeMedSoccerParkinCary,NorthCarolina,and
boundforlegendarystatus,UVMfaced13th-rankedMarshallUniversity;anddespiteMarshallscoringfirstat
the67-minutemark,UVMreboundedwithagoalinthe81stminute,forcingthegameintoaclimacticovertime
period,whentheCardiacCats(16–2–6)clinchedtheNCAAtitlewithadecisivegoallessthanfiveminutes
intotheextratimeframe, and
