Whereas,startingin2024,theGreenMountainHometownHeroesCorporation,incollaborationwith
BenningtonAmericanLegionPost13RidersandtheBenningtonVFWPost1332Riders,organizeda
commemorativedisplayofcustomizedbannersalongRoute7,extendingfromFourCornersindowntown
BenningtontotheVermontVeterans’Home,honoringpastandpresentBennington-associatedmembersofour
nation’sarmedforceswhoservedintheU.S.AirForce,Army,CoastGuard,MarineCorps,MerchantMarines,
Navy,SpaceForce,andtheVermontNationalGuard, and
Whereas,theindividualswhowererecognizedservedinmilitaryconflictsaslongagoastheCivilWarand
intheSpanish-AmericanWar,WorldWarI,WorldWarII,theKoreanWar,theVietnamWar,theGulfWar,and
theGlobalWaronTerror, and
Whereas,thisspecialcelebrationenabledfamilymembersordescendantstocommemoratetheirlovedones
whoareonactiveduty,whowerehonorablydischarged,orwhowerekilledwhileservingourcountry, and
Whereas,thispatriotictributetoBennington’smilitaryveteransbecamearealityduetosuccessful
partnershipswiththeBenningtonSelectBoardandTownManager,whograntedofficialapprovalforthis
innovativeendeavor;Bennington’spublicworkscrew,whichinstalledthebanners;andGreenMountainPower,
whichgavepermissionforthebannerstobedisplayedonitsutilitypoles, and
Whereas,onNovember11,2024,VeteransDay,theGreenMountainHometownHeroesBannerProgram
wasformallydedicatedinasolemnlyreflectiveceremonyoccurringinBennington,now therefore be it
ResolvedbytheSenateandHouseofRepresentatives:
ThattheGeneralAssemblyhonorstheGreenMountainHometownHeroesBannerProgramandits
recognizedmembersoftheU.S.ArmedForces, and be itfurther
Resolved:ThattheSecretaryofStatebedirectedtosendacopyofthisresolutiontotheGreenMountain
HometownHeroesCorporation,BenningtonAmericanLegionPost13Riders,BenningtonVFWPost1332
