Whereas,for27years,MichaelKrasnowhasservedtheTownofCharlottewithdistinction,asamemberof
themunicipality’sBoardofCivilAuthority(BCA),whichprovidesthetownwithtaxadjudicationandelectoral
administrationsupport,andhisfellowpanelmembershaveelectedhimastheBCA’schair, and
Whereas,inadifferentcontext,astheCharlotteSkiandRideProgramCoordinator,MichaelKrasnowhas
broughtgreatjoytocountlessyoungsters, and
Whereas,thegenesisofthispassionforintroducingyoungpersonstotheslopes,especiallythosewhomight
neverotherwiseparticipateinskiingorsnowboarding,beganatfouryearsofagewithfamilyskitripsfromhis
LongIsland,NewYork,hometoVermont, and
Whereas,duringhisearliercareerasapublicschoolteacherintheBoston,Massachusetts,area,Michael
Krasnowwasanadvisorforstudentnoncompetitiveskiingactivitiesthateventuallyinvolved1,000
students, and
Whereas,in1989,MichaelKrasnowrelocatedhisfamilytoVermontandvolunteeredtoassisttheSkiand
RideProgramattheCharlotteCentralSchool,whichbringsstudentstonightskiingsessionsatBoltonValley
Resort(Bolton),andwithinayearhewastheprogram’sleader, and
Whereas,duringafive-weekspanstartinginmid-February,heoverseestheparticipationofnearly150
studentstravelingtoBolton,includingapproximately20–25newyoungsterseachwinter,andformostofthe
students,thesocialexperienceisofforemostimportance, and
Whereas,associatedwithhisskiandrideleadershiprole,MichaelKrasnowhasoverseenaskiand
snowboardfittingandequipmentdistributionproject,drawingonhisvastcollectionofprimarilydonatedgear,
thatprovidestheessentialelementsofthesporttoareayoungsters, and
Whereas,foroverthreedecades,MichaelKrasnowhasenthusiasticallyintroducedcountlessyoungstersin
CharlottetothejoysofVermont’swintryslopes,nowtherefore be it
ResolvedbytheSenateandHouseofRepresentatives:
ThattheGeneralAssemblyhonorsCharlotteBoardofCivilAuthorityChair,andSkiandRideProgram
CoordinatorMichaelKrasnow,andbeitfurther
