Whereas,intheTownofJamaica,thereishardlyafacetoflifethathasnotgreatlybenefitedfromthe
participationofClaraRobinson, and
Whereas,beingthemotherofsixchildrenwould,formany,beajobleavingnotimeforanyotherrole,for
ClaraRobinson,herfamilydutiesweremerelyoneaspectofanextraordinarylife, and
Whereas,municipally,shehasservedinnumerouselectedorappointedpositions,includingjusticeofthe
peace,librarytrustee,planningcommissionmember,andontheselectboard, and
Whereas,ClaraRobinson’sdeepconcernforthewell-beingofthearea’syouthhasmanifesteditselfinher
employmentasaparaprofessionalattheJamaicaVillageSchool,andseparatelyasamemberofitsschool
board,asaWindhamCountyFamilyCourtguardianadlitem,andasalongtimeleaderoftheJamaicaYouth
Group,andbeyondtheseofficialresponsibilitiesshehasalwayslookedoutforchildrenandtriedtofindways
tomakeapositivedifferenceintheirlivesandthoseoftheirfamilies, and
Whereas,theparishionersattheJamaicaCommunityChurchhavecherishedClaraRobinsonasanactive
memberandappreciatedhermanycontributionstochurchgovernanceasatrustee, and
Whereas,atValleyCares(nowknownasValleyVillage),hervolunteeringwiththeexerciseprogramand
otheractivitieshasbeenmostwelcomed, and
Whereas,throughouttheTownofJamaica,ClaraRobinsonisknownasagoodfriendandspecialmemberof
thecommunitywhohasalwaysbeenoneofthefirstindividualstojumpinandvolunteerforanyactivityor
event,andherdecadesofdevotedpublicsector,nonprofit,andreligiousservicehavebeenbeyondthecallof
duty,nowthereforebeit
ResolvedbytheSenateandHouseofRepresentatives:
ThattheGeneralAssemblyhonorsdedicatedJamaicacommunityleaderandvolunteerClaraRobinson,and
beitfurther
Resolved:ThatSecretaryofStatebedirectedtosendacopyofthisresolutiontoClaraRobinsonandtothe
JamaicaTownClerk.
