HouseconcurrentresolutionhonoringMeganHumphreyforheroutstandingleadershipofHANDS
Whereas,HANDS(HelpingandNurturingDiverseSeniors)isaChittendenCountynonprofit
organizationdedicatedto“providingfoodandresourcesforpeopleaged50+whostrugglewithfood
insecurity,” and
Whereas,foraquarterofacentury,MeganHumphreyservedastheinspirationalleaderofHANDS
andensuredtheorganizationfulfilleditsmissionaseffectivelyaspossible, and
Whereas,underherguidance,HANDSevolvedfromofferingChristmasdinnersandfriendshipto
seniorswhowereotherwisealoneontheholidaytoafarmoreextensiveoperationproviding
nourishmentandfoodguidancetoseniorsinChittendenCounty, and
Whereas,duringthe2024holidayseason,HANDSdistributedapproximately1,700grocerygift
cardstoolderadultsstrugglingwithfoodinsecurity, and
Whereas,HANDShasalsoestablishedgardeningprogramsatlocalseniorcenters,offeredhealthy
eatingworkshops,andpartneredwithfoodshelvesandothersimilarentitiestoexpandthescopeofits
programs, and
Whereas,afteranoutstandingquartercenturydevelopingservicestofeedolderChittendenCounty
residentsinneedoffoodsupport,MeganHumphreyisconcludingherleadershipdutiesbutintendsto
remaininvolvedinthisendeavorasaHANDSvolunteer,nowtherefore be it
ResolvedbytheSenateandHouseofRepresentatives:
ThattheGeneralAssemblyhonorsMeganHumphreyforheroutstandingleadershipofHANDSand
wisheshereverysuccessinherfutureendeavors,andbeitfurther
Resolved:ThattheSecretaryofStatebedirectedtosendacopyofthisresolutiontoMegan
HumphreyandtoHANDS.
