StateofVermont HouseofRepresentatives Montpelier,Vermont ConcurrentHouseResolution H.C.R.60 OfferedbyAllMembersoftheHouse OfferedbySenatorsLyonsandGulick HouseconcurrentresolutiondesignatingMarch25,2025asIntellectualandDevelopmental DisabilitiesDayattheStateHouse Whereas,allVermonters,regardlessofanydisabilitytheymayhave,desiretoreceivethe highestattainablequalityofhealthcare,includingsupportservicesforindividualswith intellectualanddevelopmentaldisabilities, and Whereas,Sec.1oftheDevelopmentalDisabilitiesAct(1996ActsandResolvesNo.174, codifiedas18V.S.A.§ 8721)providesthatindividualswithadevelopmentaldisabilityare entitledto:asafelivingenvironment;respectanddignity;residencyinahomeoftheirchoice; theopportunitytomakelife-affectingdecisions;attendneighborhoodschools,beemployed,and participateinactivities,subjecttotheprovisionsoffederalspecialeducationlaws;andtohave accesstobroadlyavailablecommunitysupportandservices, and Whereas,individualswithintellectualanddevelopmentaldisabilitiesseekaccesstothe necessaryresourcestoleadfull,independent,anddignifiedliveswithinthecommunity,andthey expectthatalloftheseserviceswillbedeliveredwiththesamedegreeofexpertiseandfinancial supportasequivalentservicesforthosewhodonotlivewithanintellectualordevelopmental disability, and Whereas,today,March25,2025,individualswithintellectualanddevelopmentaldisabilities andtheiradvocatesarevisitingtheStateHousetoinformtheGeneralAssemblyoftheir concernsregardingtheprovisionoftheseStateservicesthatarecriticaltotheirhealthandwell- being,nowtherefore be it ResolvedbytheSenateandHouseofRepresentatives: ThattheGeneralAssemblydesignatesMarch25,2025asIntellectualandDevelopmental DisabilitiesDayattheStateHouse,andbeitfurther Resolved:ThattheSecretaryofStatebedirectedtosendacopyofthisresolutiontothe intellectualanddevelopmentaldisabilitiesadvocacyorganizationspresenttodayintheState House.
