Whereas,manufacturingisavitalpillarofVermont’seconomy,strengtheningbothruralandurbancommunities,
supplyinggloballyrecognizedbusinesses,anddrivinginnovationacrossdiverseindustries,ensuringtheState’seconomic
resilienceandcompetitiveness, and
Whereas,Vermont’smanufacturingindustrygeneratescloseto$3billion,aneconomicimpactrepresentingover8
percentoftheState’sGDP, and
Whereas,manufacturingbusinessesconstituteapproximately10.5percentofVermont’sprivatesectorworkforce,
supporting30,000jobs, and
Whereas,Vermont’smanufacturingjobstypicallyofferwagesabovetheState’saverage,providingworkerswith
greatereconomicmobility;andsupportingandpromotingmanufacturingjobswithcompetitivewagesisessentialto
attractingandretainingtalentwhilefosteringlong-termeconomicstabilityandgrowthinVermont, and
Whereas,manufacturersinourStatecontributesignificantlytopromotingstrategicrelationshipsbetweentheStateand
neighboringregions,includingNewEngland,NewYork,Canada,andthebroaderlocalandglobaleconomy,
now therefore be it
ResolvedtheSenateandHouseofRepresentatives:
ThattheGeneralAssemblycelebratestheroleofthemanufacturingindustryintheVermonteconomyanddesignates
April2,2025asManufacturingDayattheStateHouse,andbeitfurther
Resolved:ThattheSecretaryofStatebedirectedtosendacopyofthisresolutiontotheAssociatedIndustriesof
Vermont,theVermontRegionalDevelopmentCorporations,theVermontChamberofCommerce,andtheVermont
ManufacturingExtensionCenter.
