Whereas,Vermontisdeeplycommittedtotheprinciplesofequityandinclusion andvaluesthetransgenderandnon-binaryindividualsinourcommunity, and Whereas,Vermonthasbeenaleaderinestablishingpoliciesthatprohibit discriminationbasedongenderidentity,enactingbroadprotectionsinlawinthe areasofemployment,housing,education,banking,andpublicaccommodations, and Whereas,Vermontenactedlegislationpermittingindividualstoamendtheirvital recordstoaccuratelyreflectandaffirmtheirgenderidentities, and Whereas,Vermontrecentlyenactedcomprehensivelegislationtoaffirmtheright ofindividualstoobtainessentialgender-affirmingmedicalcareandtoprotectthose individuals,theirfamilies,andtheirhealthcareprovidersfromlegalattacksinitiated outsideourState, and Whereas,Vermontunequivocallyrejectsanyattempttostigmatize,devalue,and discriminateagainstindividualsbasedontheirgenderidentityandiscommittedto ensuringthattransgenderandnon-binaryindividualslivingin,workingin,or visitingourStatereceiveequalprotectionunderthelawsofourState, now therefore be it ResolvedbytheSenateandHouseofRepresentatives: ThattheGeneralAssemblyrecommitstotheprinciplethatallindividualsare welcomehereanddeservetobetreatedwithdignityandrespectandthatVermont willcontinuetostandwithourtransgenderandnon-binaryfamily,friends,and neighborsagainstdiscrimination,andbeitfurther Resolved:ThattheSecretaryofStatebedirectedtosendacopyofthisresolution tothePrideCenterofVermontand,OutrightVermont,andtotheVermont CongressionalDelegation.
