Whereas,theachievementsofLilianeGordon,nowafreshmanattheUniversityofVermont’s
GrossmanSchoolofBusiness,reflectlaudablegoals, and
Whereas,shecaptainedbothChamplainValleyUnionHighSchool’s(CVU)2024indoorand
outdoorDivisionIchampionshipgirls’trackandfieldteams,andshebelievesintheimportance
ofyouthsportsparticipation, and
Whereas,LilianeGordon’smotivationtoproceedwith“GetActive!”ashersuccessful
qualifyingprojectfortheGirlScoutGoldAward(theorganization’shighesthonorforaGirl
Scoutwhoisa9th–12thgradestudent)wasintensifiedduetotheincreaseinyoungVermonters’
instancesofobesity,dailyscreentime,andmentalhealthproblemsasaresultofCOVID-19’s
restrictionsandtheswitchtoonlineeducation, and
Whereas,thisdedicatedGirlScoutdevotedover120hourstothisworthyendeavorthat
consistedofcoachingtrackforyoungstersfive–14yearsofage,providingaresourcelistfor
parentsofavailablesportsoptionsfortheirchildren,andcreatingavideofeaturingyoung
Vermontersofferingreal-lifetestimonialsforthebenefitsofsportsparticipation, and
Whereas,herGirlScoutachievementsalsoincludebeingTroop30463’stopcookiesellerfor
sixyears,servingasaGirlScoutAmbassador,andparticipatingintheGirlsRocktheCapitol
programattheStateHouse, and
Whereas,communityandschoolserviceareimportantforLilianeGordonasherGreenUp
Day,foodsupport,animalcareactivities,andfour-yearstudentcouncilmembershipattest, and
Whereas,inrecognitionofherhighschoolscholasticandathleticaccomplishments,atthe
2024graduationceremony,CVUpresentedLilianeGordonwithanacademicathleticaward,
nowthereforebeit
