Referred to Committee on State Affairs. ***AUTHORS SUBJECT TO CHANGE*** AN ACT to amend 125.09 (7) of the statutes; relating to: providing alcohol beverage retailers with identification scanners. Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau Current law prohibits municipalities from providing to alcohol beverage retail licensees any device capable of scanning a driver's license or identification card issued by the Department of Transportation. The bill repeals this prohibition and also prohibits a municipality that provides such a device from collecting or retaining data derived from the device. The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows: SECTION 1. 125.09 (7) of the statutes is amended to read: 125.09 (7) MUNICIPALITY PROVIDING IDENTIFICATION SCANNERS.
