2023 Wisconsin Act 66

DNR Habitat Work Plan
Under current law, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) carries out various efforts relating to
habitat management. 2023 Wisconsin Act 66 requires the department to prepare a biennial habitat
work plan under which the department must establish priorities and goals for habitat work on DNR-
managed lands and measure progress on established priorities and goals. Preparation of the habitat
work plan must coincide with the state’s biennial budget process, and DNR must annually report its
progress on habitat work plan goals to the Natural Resources Board.
Effective date: December 8, 2023
