2023 Wisconsin Act 203
[2023 Senate Bill 416]
County Veterans Service Officer
2023 Wisconsin Act 203 revises the qualifications of a county veterans service officer for purposes of
applying for a county veterans’ service grant. Under prior law, among the requirements to qualify for a
county veterans’ service grant, a county must have employed a county veterans service officer who had
taken a civil service examination. The act eliminates the civil service examination requirement, and
allows a county to qualify for a county veterans’ service grant if the officer is elected or appointed under
the statutory qualifications to serve as a county veterans service officer.
Effective date: March 24, 2024
