Prior Authorization
Requirements Under Medicaid
for Repair of Complex
Rehabilitation Technology
2023 Wisconsin Act 83 specifies that, under the Medical Assistance program, the Department of Health
Services is prohibited from requiring a prescription or prior authorization to repair complex
rehabilitation technology if the complex rehabilitation technology itself was prescribed and reimbursed
under the program. The prohibition does not apply to repair of complex rehabilitation technology for an
individual enrolled in a managed care organization.
Effective date: December 8, 2023
