Under the act, organizations may include a city, village, town, county, or federally recognized American Indian tribe or band in this state. DHS may award a suicide prevention programming grant to a recipient for an amount up to $25,000 in a fiscal year. DHS may not award a suicide prevention programming grant unless the grant recipient contributes matching funds or in-kind services having a value equal to at least 20 percent of the grant. Each fiscal year, DHS must set aside $250,000 from federal block grants for community mental health services to award suicide prevention programming grants. DHS may not encumber the federal funds set aside under the act during the fiscal year in which the funds are set aside for any purpose other than to award suicide prevention programming grants.
