2025 ASSEMBLY BILL 160
April 2, 2025 - Introduced by Representatives GUSTAFSON, MAXEY, ZIMMERMAN,
BROWN, GOEBEN, MIRESSE, BRILL, TITTL, KREIBICH, BEHNKE, J. JACOBSON
and PALMERI, cosponsored by Senators CABRAL-GUEVARA and LARSON.
Referred to Committee on State Affairs.
AN ACT to repeal 175.095; to amend 125.32 (3) (a), 125.68 (4) (c) 1. and
990.001 (12) of the statutes; relating to: eliminating daylight saving time in
Wisconsin.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill eliminates daylight saving time. Current law defines standard time
and provides that daylight saving time begins at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday in
March and ends at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November of each year.
Federal law generally preempts states from deviating from standard time or
eliminating daylight saving time, but federal law allows a state that lies entirely in
one timezone, such as Wisconsin, to observe standard time instead of daylight
saving time as long as the observation is throughout the entire state.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SECTION 1. 125.32 (3) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
125.32 (3) (a) No premises for which a Class XBY license or permit is issued
may remain open between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., except as provided in this
