Whereas, James XJimY Robert Soletski was born to John and Caroline Soletski on October 7, 1948, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the fourth of their seven children; and Whereas, Jim Soletski graduated from Preble High School in Green Bay, attended the University of Wisconsin]Green Bay, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin]Stevens Point with a bachelor[s degree in education; and Whereas, Jim Soletski worked for many years in the energy industry, including as a senior analyst at the Kewaunee Power Station; and Whereas, Jim Soletski was a local, state, and national representative for Al- Anon, as well as a longtime member of and leader in Justice Organization Sharing Hope & United for Action (JOSHUA); and Whereas, Jim Soletski was elected to represent the 88th Assembly District in 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 2025 - 2026 Legislature - 2 - LRB-2581/1 SEJ:amn November 2006 as a proud Democrat and went on to serve in the Wisconsin State Assembly for two consecutive terms; and Whereas, during his second term in the assembly, Jim Soletski served as the chair of the Assembly Committee on Energy and Utilities, cochair of the Assembly Special Committee on Clean Energy Jobs, vice chair of the Assembly Committee on Consumer Protection, and vice chair of the Assembly Committee on Elections and Campaign Reform; and Whereas, Jim Soletski served on the 2008 Special Committee on State-Tribal Relations and was a passionate advocate for respecting Native American culture; and Whereas, Jim Soletski was a loving father to his two daughters and grandfather to his grandson and grandpup; and Whereas, Jim Soletski passed away on August 20, 2024, at the age of 75; and Whereas, Jim Soletski is missed for his quick wit, empathy, and service to others by his family, friends, and former colleagues; now, therefore, be it Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin State Legislature join in honoring the life and public service of Representative Jim Soletski and extend their condolences to his family and friends.
