A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding a new section, designated ยง5-1A-6, relating to discontinuing using taxpayer funds to subsidize private enterprises; and definition. 

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

 

##  ARTICLE 1A. ITEMIZATION OF PROPOSED APPROPRIATIONS IN BUDGET BILL SUBMITTED BY GOVERNOR TO LEGISLATURE.

(a) As used in this section, the term "private enterprise" means a business or industry that is managed by independent companies or private individuals rather than by the state.

(b) Notwithstanding any provision of this code or law to the contrary, state funds that originate from taxpayers of this state to subsidize any current private enterprise shall cease July 1, 2025.

(c) Notwithstanding any provision of this code or law to the contrary, state funds that originate from taxpayers of this state may not be used to subsidize any private enterprise. 

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to discontinue subsidizing private enterprises with funds derived from taxpayers.
