HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 33 (By Delegates Coop-Gonzalez, Anders, Barnhart, Bridges, Brooks, DeVault, Dillon, Heckert, Linville, Lucas, Marple, Sheedy, and White) [Introduced February 14, 2025; Referredto the committee on Rules ] Recognizing The Tallest Point In The State Of West Virginia, Spruce Knob, As "Trump Mountain," And Honoring The Accomplishments Of President Donald J. Trump. Whereas, Spruce Knob, located in Pendleton County, West Virginia, is the highest point in the state of West Virginia, with an elevation of 4,863 feet; and Whereas, The people of West Virginia, in overwhelming support, voted for Donald J. Trump in every county during the 2016, 2020, and 2024 presidential elections, reflecting a shared commitment to the values of freedom, economic prosperity, and patriotism; and Whereas, President Trump has also been elected as the 47th President, being only the second president to serve two non-consecutive terms; and Whereas, Under President Trump’s leadership, the United States saw historic tax cuts, deregulation, and job growth, along with substantial progress on securing the nation’s borders, bringing manufacturing jobs back to America, and expanding access to affordable energy; and Whereas, President Donald Trump demonstrated unparalleled resilience in the face of personal and professional challenges, overcoming repeated efforts to undermine his presidency, surviving multiple assassination attempts, and consistently refusing to quit despite overwhelming opposition; and Whereas, The highest point in the state, Spruce Knob, symbolizes strength, endurance, and resilience, qualities that epitomize the leadership and perseverance demonstrated by President Donald J. Trump during his time in office; and Whereas, The naming of geographical features is a tradition in the United States that reflects both the natural heritage and cultural history of a region; and Whereas, As a lasting tribute to his legacy and enduring influence, it is fitting that Spruce Knob be officially renamed "Trump Mountain" in honor of President Trump’s service to our state, his impact on the nation, and the loyalty of the people of West Virginia; and Whereas It is appropriate that this resolution calls for the consideration of renaming Spruce Knob "Trump Mountain" five years after the passing of President Donald J. Trump, in recognition of his lasting legacy and contribution to the people of West Virginia and the United States; therefore Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia; therefore, be it: Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia: Be It Further Resolved, that the Clerk of the House of Delegates forward this resolution to the U.S. Board on Geographic Names, along with a copy of the adopted resolution, for their consideration in the future; and Be It Further Resolved, that the House of Delegates encourages the citizens of West Virginia to reflect on the legacy of President Donald J. Trump and the lasting impact of his leadership on the state and the country.
