Source of expenditure increase:
This bill creates the Federal Review Joint and Standing Committee. The
expenditure increase in the table above is the estimated expenditure increase to
create the proposed committee.
Assumptions:
The proposed Federal Review Joint and Standing Committee would have 14 committee
members.
It is assumed the proposed committee would cost $60,000 per fiscal year, based on
the average amount budgeted for the current 14-member standing committees in
the Legislative budget for the 2025-26 biennium.
The President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives would
appoint members to the proposed Federal Review Joint and Standing Committee
not later than January 6, 2026. With this date, it is assumed that expenditures
related to the proposed Committee would begin in FY 2027.
It is assumed there will be sufficient funding budgeted in 2027-28 biennium
Legislative budget to pay for the cost of the proposed committee.
