A BILL

1 AN ACT relating to crimes and offenses; establishing the
2 offense of using fraudulent documents to gain or remain in
3 possession of property; specifying penalties; providing
4 definitions; and providing for an effective date.

13 (a) As used in this section:

15 (i) "Document" means a writing, whether in

2 (ii) "Property" means real property improved by
3 a dwelling, structure or other building.

5 (b) A person is guilty of a felony punishable by
6 imprisonment for not more than ten (10) years, a fine of
7 not more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00), or both,
8 if the person intentionally uses a document that the person
9 knows or reasonably should know is false or fraudulent to
10 gain or remain in possession of property or to claim a
11 right to property for which the person does not have a
12 legal right to possess or claim a right.
