2SF00361 (a) As used in this chapter:

3 (i) "Board certified music therapist" means a
4 person who holds an active music therapist board certified
5 credential granted by the certification board for music
6 therapists;
7
8 (ii) "Music therapy" means the clinical and
9 evidence based use of music interventions to accomplish
10 individualized goals for persons of all ages and ability
11 levels that are delivered during the course of a
12 therapeutic relationship;

14 (iii) "Certification board" means the national
15 certification board for music therapists.

19 (a) It is unlawful for a person to profess to be a
20 board certified music therapist or advertise in any form or
21 hold themselves out to the public as a board certified
22 music therapist or use the initials "MT-BC" or any other

1 implying that the person is a board certified music
2 therapist unless the person holds and maintains a music
3 therapist board certified credential granted by the
4 certification board for music therapists.

6 (b) This chapter shall not prohibit a person from
7 using music if the person does not represent that they are
8 a board certified music therapist.
