The Department of Motor Vehicles is not authorized to issue operator's licenses to persons who use bioptic lenses. With the increase in technology the bioptics are currently built into the lens itself. The advances have increased the field of vision for drivers. Many other states have gone back to readdress licensure of individuals who use bioptics.

On some occasions adult unlicensed drivers have been stopped by police and ticketed because they do not have a license to drive. By creating an "adult" learner's permit, the practicing driver will have proof and should not be ticketed. This permit may be used as a revenue enhancer for the state.
