A BILL 
 
FOR AN ACT ENTITLED 
 
"An Act temporarily closing the commercial salmon fishery in a portion of the Alaska 1 
Peninsula and Aleutian Islands; and providing for an effective date." 2 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 3 
   * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section 4 
to read: 5 
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF ALASKA PENINSULA MANAGEMENT AREA M 6 
TO COMMERCIAL SALMON FISHING. Notwithstanding the authority usually delegated 7 
by the legislature to the Board of Fisheries under AS 16.05.251, the area of the Alaska 8 
Peninsula, Aleutian Islands, and Atka-Amlia Islands Areas administered by the Board of 9 
Fisheries under AS 16.05.251 on December 31, 2022, and identified by the Department of 10 
Fish and Game as of January 1, 2023, as Alaska Peninsula Management Area M is closed to 11 
commercial salmon fishing from 12:01 a.m. on June 10, 2023, through 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 12 
2023. 13 
   * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c). 14
