FOR AN ACT ENTITLED
"An Act establishing May as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Awareness Month; and 1
providing for an effective date." 2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 3
* Section 1. AS 44.12 is amended by adding a new section to article 2 to read: 4
Sec. 44.12.190. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Awareness Month. The 5
month of May each year is established as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Awareness 6
Month to promote awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and to recognize people 7
living with the disease and those researching causes, treatments, and a cure. 8
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Awareness Month may be observed by public and 9
private agencies and individuals with appropriate activities that increase the public's 10
awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and understanding of the challenges faced 11
by individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. 12
* Sec. 2. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c). 13
