2929 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 3
3030 * Section 1. AS 47.07.020(i) is amended to read: 4
3131 (i) The department shall allow a person under six years of age who is

3333 determined to be eligible for benefits under this chapter to remain eligible for 6
3434 those benefits until the person is six years old. The department may allow a person 7
3535 who is at least six years of age but not over [UNDER] 19 years of age and who is 8
3636 determined to be eligible for benefits under this chapter to remain eligible for those 9
3737 benefits for up to 11 calendar months following the month that the person is 10
3838 determined eligible for benefits or until the person is 19 years old, whichever occurs 11
3939 earlier. 12

4545 MEDICAID STATE PLAN FEDERAL APPROVAL. To the extent necessary t o 1
4646 implement this Act, the Department of Health shall amend and submit for federal approval the 2
4747 state plan for medical assistance coverage consistent with AS 47.07.020(i), as amended by 3
4848 sec. 1 of this Act. 4
4949 * Sec. 3. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 5
5050 read: 6
5151 CONDITIONAL EFFECT; NOTIFICATION. (a) Section 1 of this Act takes effect 7
5252 only if the United States Department of Health and Human Services 8
5353 (1) approves the amendments to the state plan for medical assistance coverage 9
5454 submitted in accordance with sec. 2 of this Act; or 10
5555 (2) determines that approval of the amendments to the state plan for medical 11
5656 assistance coverage submitted in accordance with sec. 2 of this Act is not necessary. 12
5757 (b) The commissioner of health shall notify the revisor of statutes in writing within 30 13
5858 days after the United States Department of Health and Human Services approves the 14
5959 amendments to the state plan or determines that approval is not necessary under this section. 15
6060 * Sec. 4. If sec. 1 of this Act takes effect, it takes effect on the day after the date the United 16
6161 States Department of Health and Human Services approves the amendments to the state plan 17
6262 or determines that approval is not necessary. 18
