8 SYNOPSIS: Under existing law, for the purposes of the
9 crime of impersonating a peace officer, the
10 definition of a peace officer does not include a
11 federal peace officer.
12 This bill would revise the definition of
13 peace officer for that purpose to include a peace
14 officer of the federal government.

20 Relating to impersonating a peace officer; to
21 include federal peace officer in the definition of peace
22 officer.
23 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
24 Section 1. Section 13A-10-11, Code of Alabama 1975,
25 is amended to read as follows:
26 "ยง13A-10-11.
Page 1 1 "(a) For the purposes of this section, a peace
2 officer includes a federal peace officer.
3 "(a) (b) A person commits the crime of impersonating
4 a peace officer if he falsely pretends to be a peace officer
5 and does any act in that capacity.
6 "(b) (c) Impersonating a peace officer is a Class C
7 felony."
8 Section 2. This act shall become effective on the
9 first day of the third month following its passage and
10 approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
