2424 18 Relating to voting; to amend Section 17-9-50, Code
2525 19 of Alabama 1975, to clarify the point from which the 30 feet
2626 20 should be measured.
2727 21 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
2828 22 Section 1. Section 17-9-50, Code of Alabama 1975, is
2929 23 amended to read as follows:
3030 24 "ยง17-9-50.
3131 25 "Except as electors and individuals to assist them
3232 26 are admitted to vote and persons to assist them as herein
3333 27 provided, and except for the judge of probate, the sheriff, or
3434 Page 1 1 his or her deputy, the precinct election officials, and
3535 2 watchers, no person individual shall be permitted within 30
3636 3 feet of the door of the building of the polling place. For
3737 4 purposes of this section, 30 feet shall be measured from the
3838 5 exterior door or doors of the building in which voting
3939 6 machines are located and which voters are allowed to use as
4040 7 the ingress and egress to the voting area."
4141 8 Section 2. This act shall become effective on the
4242 9 first day of the third month following its passage and
4343 10 approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
