This act shall apply only to Russell 17 County. 18 Section 2. (a)(1) Effective on the first day of the 19 month following the effective date of this act, each member of 20 the county commission shall receive an annual salary of 21 twenty-eight thousand dollars ($28,000) per year. The salary 22 provided by this subdivision shall be in lieu of any salary, 23 expense allowance, or other compensation provided by law on 24 the effective date of this act. 25 (2) Effective on the first day of the month 26 following the effective date of this act, the chair of the 27 county commission shall receive an annual salary of Page 1 1 thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000) per year. The salary 2 provided by this subdivision shall be in lieu of any and all 3 salary, expense allowance, or other compensation provided by 4 law on the effective date of this act. 5 (b)(1) The county commission, by majority recorded 6 roll call vote of the entire elected members of the county 7 commission, may grant to each member of the commission, not 8 including the chair of the commission, an additional expense 9 allowance, payable in equal monthly installments from the 10 general fund of the county. 11 (2) Any expense allowance granted to the members of 12 the commission shall become salary effective upon the next 13 term of office following the term that the expense allowance 14 becomes effective. 15 (c) Notwithstanding any provision of this section or 16 any other provision of the law to the contrary, the total 17 annual compensation of any member of the county commission, 18 including salary, expense allowance, and other compensation, 19 may not exceed the total annual compensation of the chair of 20 the commission. 21 Section 3. All laws or parts of laws which conflict 22 with this act are repealed. 23 Section 4. This act shall become effective 24 immediately following its passage and approval by the 25 Governor, or its otherwise becoming law. Page 2
