2 ENROLLED, An Act,
3	Relating to Russell County; to provide for the
4 compensation of the members of the county commission.
5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
6	Section 1. This act shall apply only to Russell
7 County.
8	Section 2. (a)(1) Effective on the first day of the
9 month following the effective date of this act, each member of
10 the county commission shall receive an annual salary of
11 twenty-eight thousand dollars ($28,000) per year. The salary
12 provided by this subdivision shall be in lieu of any salary,
13 expense allowance, or other compensation provided by law on
14 the effective date of this act.
15	(2) Effective on the first day of the month
16 following the effective date of this act, the chair of the
17 county commission shall receive an annual salary of
18 thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000) per year. The salary
19 provided by this subdivision shall be in lieu of any and all
20 salary, expense allowance, or other compensation provided by
21 law on the effective date of this act.
22	(b)(1) The county commission, by majority recorded
23 roll call vote of the entire elected members of the county
24 commission, may grant to each member of the commission, not
25 including the chair of the commission, an additional expense

1 allowance, payable in equal monthly installments from the
2 general fund of the county.
3	(2) Any expense allowance granted to the members of
4 the commission shall become salary effective upon the next
5 term of office following the term that the expense allowance
6 becomes effective.
7	(c) Notwithstanding any provision of this section or
8 any other provision of the law to the contrary, the total
9 annual compensation of any member of the county commission,
10 including salary, expense allowance, and other compensation,
11 may not exceed the total annual compensation of the chair of
12 the commission.
13	Section 3. All laws or parts of laws which conflict
14 with this act are repealed.
15	Section 4. This act shall become effective
16 immediately following its passage and approval by the
17 Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
